5 Essential iOS Apps for the Football Season

The football season is getting underway and with so many Apps out there in the App Store to choose from, which ones do you download and use, whether they be paid or free, this season. Here’s a run down of five Apps you must have at your disposal this season.

Flick Kick Football (Free/$0.99)

If you don’t yet own Flick Kick Football – or at least have the free lite version installed on your iPhone – it’s not too late to fork out less than a dollar and make the purchase. You won’t regret it.

The idea behind the game is simple. Flick the football into the back of the net however you like. Over the wall, bending it around defenders, or slotting it in the top corner – just get it in the net!

For such a small price you’re getting so many hours of gameplay. Not only that, it’s addictive and you’ll be flicking for hours trying to beat your high score in arcade mode, or scoring more goals in time attack. Let’s not even mention bulls-eye or skill-shot mode – I’m itching to play just thinking about it!

iFooty (Free/$2.99)

There are so many apps for checking scores on the go, but iFooty is definitely the one to go for. Live score tracking, all match results, and more leagues than you can poke a stick at. For a small fee you’ll get no ads, push notifications and access to statistics from every previous game of the season. If you don’t mind the ads or have no use for push notifications, then the free version is the way to go.

iFooty does what it’s meant to do, and does it well. If you’re looking for great coverage of pretty much every league, you’ve found your app. Look no further, iFooty is what you need this season!

Ultimate A-League (Free)

The must have app for any A-League fan this season. Everything you could want, from fixtures, standings, player statistics, club information and up-to-the minute breaking news and opinion articles on the A-League. All that, and it’s free!

There are a few other apps in the App Store that cover A-League scores, statistics and news, although why download two or three when you can have it all in one? The statistics on offer are quite comprehensive, so there’s plenty of time to waste sifting through all of them. As an added bonus, the app is visually appealing, it’s beautiful to look at and easy to navigate.

The World Game (Free)

SBS’ own The World Game app for iOS is everything the website and show are, for your iOS device. The world of football is quite literally in the palm of your hands, with TWG app boasting comprehensive live scores and results from over 40 football leagues from around the world.

Select your favourite clubs and leagues and stay up to date on their fixtures, results and statistics, whether it be Manchester United in the English Premier League, or Sydney FC in the Hyundai A-League. The handy opening screen will give you instant access to everything your club is doing, all the time.

Flick Football Super Save (Free/$0.99)

Think of it like Flick Kick Football, although this time, you’re on the other end. Now you’re the ‘keeper, and it’s your job to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Swipe your finger to catch the ball or turn it around the post in an app that will kill many hours without question.

It’s a game that is simple to play but difficult to master, and it’s incredibly addictive. With four game modes including ‘3 Lives’, ‘Sudden Death’, ‘Bend It’ and ‘Multi-Ball’, your reaction time and hand-eye coordination will be tested every time as you’ll do anything to keep the ball out of the goal. A definite must have game to kill time while you’re waiting for kick-off this season.
